Apple Almond Cinnamon Smoothie

Here’s my favorite apple almond cinnamon smoothie recipe that I drink for breakfast when trying to lose a few extra pounds. This smoothie is high in fiber, a little bit of protein and keeps me feeling full for hours.

Why You’ll Love This Smoothie

Apple – adds a fresh, fruity, and sweet taste to this smoothie but not only that, it’s great for the digestive system too. You see, just 1 medium apple has over 4 grams of dietary fiber, that’s nearly 16% of your daily DV.

Fiber helps keep you regular, improve your gut microbiome, and keep you feeling full longer during the day.

Cinnamon – adds a sweet and woody flavor to this smoothie plus it’s packed with antioxidants and some studies even suggests it may help boost the metabolism and reduce belly fat. [1] Also, cinnamon is a great remedy for reducing high blood sugar and cholesterol levels.

Almonds – adds a slightly sweet flavor, a little bit of healthy fats and protein to this apple almond cinnamon smoothie. Similar to cinnamon, almonds also promote satiety, and reduces blood sugar and cholesterol levels.

Greek Yogurt – is high is protein, calcium, and adds extra creaminess to this smoothie. Also, yogurt contains probiotics so it’s great for gut health. Finally, it aids in boosting the metabolism, improves bone health, and reduces hunger pangs. [2]

Almond Milk – adds extra sweetness and a nutty flavor to this smoothie. Since almond milk is made from almonds, it provides the same benefits as well. However, almond milk has way less carbs than almonds.

Honey – adds extra sweetness along and provides extra health benefits such as antioxidants, has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, plus it’s great for heart and digestive health.

Storage & Tips

I always recommend drinking your smoothies right away after blending, that way, you get all the antioxidants and nutrients. With that being said, you can store this smoothie covered in the fridge for up to 12 hours.

Also, make sure to peel your apples before blending or else it won’t be extra smooth and creamy. I made the mistake with this smoothie and had to make it all over again.

I also recommend you use Ceylon cinnamon for better taste and benefits. Finally, you can use full or low fat yogurt and milk depending on your diet plan. I just love the taste of almond milk in my smoothies.
