watermelon smoothie recipes

Looking for some refreshing creamy watermelon smoothie recipes to try? I’ve got you covered as always! Here are 7 of my favorite watermelon smoothies I recommend you try this summer! They’ll keep you hydrated and stock you up with vitamins and minerals.

Why Make Watermelon Smoothies?

Watermelon is a great source of water, potassium, and antioxidants like beta-carotene and lycopene. Adding this fruit to your diet during the summer will keep you hydrated, prevent dehydration and cell damage.

You see, beta-carotene converts to vitamin A which is great for immunity, skin, eyes, and help your organs function properly. Lycopene on the other hand prevents cell damage and increases the hormone testosterones.

How To Make Watermelon Smoothies

Your first step in making the perfect watermelon smoothie is to freeze the watermelon overnight or else you’ll be left with a juice instead of a smoothie.

To freeze the watermelon, cut it into little cubes and remove the seeds. Next, spread the watermelon cubes onto a baking tray lined with parchment paper and place it in the fridge for 2 hours.

Once they are firm, transfer the cubes into a freezer-safe zip-lock bag and freeze overnight or up to 2 weeks.

I also recommend you freeze other fruits you intend to add to your watermelon smoothie overnight as well for extra creaminess.

Finally, blend your watermelon cubes along with any fruit of your choice with milk or Greek yogurt and enjoy.
